I’m not sure if you have seen the article, but recently a local council sent out a letter fining someone for taking their child out of school for a holiday. The parent found there were seven spelling mistakes in the letter. The council’s reply to this was computer problems!
A short while later the same council erected a new road sign. The town was ‘Newton Abbot’ which appeared on the sign as ‘Newton Abbott’!
Last week I received a letter from a local dental practice. In my address they had put ‘Newton Abbot’ with the correct spelling – the practice address appeared in two places and both times the spelling was ‘Newton Abbott’!
Is it just me that wants to see correct spellings – tell me what you think?
